Philip Adam

Philip was looking for the perfect place. After a visit to Rice, he knew he’d found it. “I wanted to meet amazing people and learn from the best,” Philip said. “Rice gave me that and a lot more.”

No stranger to throwing, vaulting and hurdling, Philip has dashed his way into the Rice heptathlon and decathlon record books and received numerous Conference USA honors along the way, including male indoor track and field Newcomer of the Year and the C-USA Commissioner’s Medal for earning a 3.75 GPA or higher. In back-to-back seasons, Philip has earned C-USA silver and gold medals in the indoor heptathlon and recorded the second-best score ever by a Rice freshman in his collegiate decathlon debut.

“If I had not received a Rice scholarship, I would not be here,” Philip said. “Rice has taught me that things I once thought were beyond my grasp are obtainable with a little hard work and access to the right resources,” Philip said.

“‘No upper limit’ perfectly describes the mentality that Rice fosters and the academic philosophy I try to live by every day.”
